The laboratory is accredited through the College of American Pathologists (CAP). The laboratory has continued to meet the CAP’s rigorous standards and requirements for numerous years. These standards and requirements help laboratories stay in compliance with Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) regulations for quality testing. CMS regulates all laboratory testing (except research) performed on humans in the U.S. through the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA). The Laboratory Department provides services in hematology, clinical chemistry, urinalysis, therapeutic drug monitoring, bacteriology, mycobacteriology, mycology, parasitology, transfusion medicine, blood bank, diagnostic serology, syphillis serology, surgical pathology, autopsy pathology, cytopathology.
